Spring in Hamburg with Ingrid & Jürgen | w18 2018

Hej hej! It is Sunday again and today it also really feels like it! After being outside the entire day yesterday we are now just sitting in the kitchen at the open balcony door and enjoy a very slow afternoon with some cool drinks and the cats sleeping on the balcony chairs.

I left for the train on Wednesday evening right after my Swedish class to make my way to Hamburg to visit Ingrid and Jürgen for a week. The train ride was pretty relaxed and easy, and I've been really happy when I arrived in Hamburg when the sun was setting. Ingrid and Jürgen picked me up from the train station and we made our way to their place. Ingrid and I went to the city to stroll through the stores and be a bit productive in a cafe! I was looking for some nice ceramic bowls and plates for my shoots (and also because I LOVE pretty dishes, it makes cooking and serving so much more joyful) and I found these really beautiful ones.

I adore their rustic and simple look! I will work on a cooperation with an organic brand who saves food and I can't wait to use my new plate and bowl to shoot some recipes! I would looove some waffles now like we ate when we stopped for a break at the Nord Coast Coffee Roastery after walking through the city. I had a panini which was as good as the waffles!

Moreover, we went to the hairdresser to get Ingrid some bangs! I tried to convince her to get bangs for a very long time and now I finally succeed - and I love how it looks like! I am even thinking about getting myself bangs as well, even tho I know that they make me look younger and don't really suit me. But Ingrid looks so so pretty with the new hair and I can't stop looking at her! The night we came back from the city Ingrid couldn't wait to dye her hair since she wanted it to be a dark blonde, and so she stood in the bathroom at 1 am and colored her hair which turned out more of a grey than blonde in the end, ups.

Sigh, I love to have this one around! There is always something to laugh about, fooling around and making fun of ourselves. I feel so lighthearted with them! Sometimes I am wondering what others might think watching us goofy ones.Yesterday, we visited a flea market and met Miriam for a little shoot. I loved to stroll around the strands full of old and rustic stuff like white buckets and chairs, old teapots and vintage poster. In the end, I purchased a white enamel bowl for berry picking or baking buns in.

Afterwards, we went for some ice cream before we made our way to the park where I shot some floral photos of Miriam and we lay on the grass at the water for a while and enjoyed the good weather. It has been so hot and sunny the days I have been here which is quite unusual for cold and cloudy Hamburg.

After soaking up some sun and cooling our feet, we made our way to Peter Pane where we enjoyed vegan burgers and fries - yummy! They make such goooood burgers and we all have been so hungry after the trip.

The other day we also went to the cinema to watch "The Quiet Place" which is a horror movie and not what I usually watch. But since Ingrid is a big horror movie lover, I wanted to challenge myself and watch one in the cinema - and The Quiet Place looked so interesting so we bought Nachos on Friday night, got into our seats and watched the film. It was really good and intense because most of the film was quiet and so the loud and scary scenes became intensified. The movie itself wasn't so scary but the tension made it really frightening. The trailers they have shown before the actual film, on the other hand, have been quite horrifying I got traumatized while Ingrid jumped up and down in her seat because she wants to see them so badly! Before we went for the movie, we sat at the Alster for a while where I also shot a few photos of Ingrid and the beautiful blooming Lilac. Her hair looks so so enchanting in contrast to the lilac colors!

Now, there are two days left of my time in Hamburg and I am not looking forward to leaving these two weirdos. But there is a lot of work waiting for me at home - my monthly photoshoot for the natural care brand, a cooperation with a wonderful company that works against food waste, assignments and many more things that are piling on my To-Do List. I will miss the cats and them looking so cute laying on the sofa or occupying the kitchen chairs.

Der Urlaub endet, das neue Jahr beginnt...
IMG_20180105_201027_739.jpg

Hello from Finland // A dip in the sea

Hei Hei from Finland! I am so sorry, I haven't given a sign of life on here the past couple of days. After arriving in Helsinki when I almost missed my flight, I felt pretty confused and overwhelmed by all feelings and impressions I had returning here after three months. I spent a lovely time in the hotel and had a great time at the Finnish Nature Day planting my tree in the Nuuksio forest. You might have seen a little video I filmed (

here

) but there will also follow some photos and stories here soon! Now I moved to Tiina's place where we just spent our time watching movies since it is gray and rainy here the past two days, went for a little trip into the city and go for walks in the forests. We found some wild raspberries and also the last blueberries of this season. A few seconds ago I came home from a run near the shore where I took a dip in the sea. The cold water felt so good and although my feet felt numb afterwards I felt so alive! Finland does me good and I enjoy my time here to its fullest. I feel like a bird being able to fly again! I will share more photos and adventures soon, I just decided to go day by day and do what feels good. My time here is limited and I don't wanna miss a single second. Lots of love to you! I hope you are all doing fine!

A canoe trip with my family

Happy Saturday! My family and I went canoeing today. The sky was a little cloudy but it didn't ruin the mood. We met some butterflies, ducks and tried to turn turtle the canoe of the others. My dad and I sat in the same boat, while my mum and my brother shared another. I enjoyed floating through the low water, passing a small water fall and sea roses.

There have been several bushes of rosy flowers at the shore which looked so lovely while we passed them. We paddled through several willows and splashed water with our paddle to nettle each other. Before we returned to the shore, we did a little race, paddled as hard as we could and laughed while almost floating into the bushes.

Afterwards, we went for some ice cream and tea and watched the birds flying around our table. What a lovely Saturday! What have you done today? Lots of love to you!

Four days in Hamburg - Ahoi, Captain!

Last week I travelled to Hamburg to visit Majbritt. Some of you might remember our adventures together a few weeks ago when she came to Finland to explore the woods with me. This time I made my way to her place and she showed me Hamburg and all its different facets. And since I am usually taking photos of nature and the forests, I thought showing you my impressions of this city might be more magical in black and white. It perfectly represents the spirit of the seaport.

The day I arrived we spent the afternoon with strolling through the streets, Majbritt showing me the town hall and some sightseeing points before we made our way to her home. She lives in a smaller district of Hamburg outside of the centre and so we went for a walk in the fields near a little stream with her friend Marisa and her dog later that evening. The sky has been grey but when we reached a field full of colourful flowers the sun came out behind the clouds and created an incredible, magical light while it was hanging on the horizon. You might have seen some photos on

Instagram

of the bunch of flowers I picked in the sunset.

The next morning we picked up Loraina from the train station who lives nearby Hamburg and came over for a day together on Wednesday. She had been the first girl visiting me in Helsinki back in April and it was so nice to see her again and to talk and stroll through the city. We had some ice cream and a little shopping tour and did some photos in one of these old photo machines in the city. It has been so warm and sunny while we were enjoying our time together.

On Thursday we met Nicole, who we both knew from the Internet and we were really excited to meet and spend the day with her. We made a little walk around the harbour, drove with one of the bus boats and climbed one of the sightseeing points from where we had a stunning view over the water and port. We also had a little visit in the Botanical Garden where I have been so fascinated by the big amount of cacti they had and also the banana tree where actual bananas were hanging from at the top. We had such a lovely time together, talked a lot and took some polaroids with the flowers before we said goodbye and made our way back home.

On Friday morning Majbritt, Marisa, lovely Ingrid, who joined us since we also knew each other from the internet, and I had breakfast together. We enjoyed waffles, paninis and hot chocolate while we were laughing and sharing stories. It has been such a wonderful last morning in Hamburg although it was raining heavily and I neither had a jacket nor an umbrella. But Ingrid shared hers with me and so we made our way to the railway station to say goodbye and travel back home. I had such a wonderful time in Hamburg and have been so happy to meet old friends and also new dear souls. I went home with lots of memories!

What has your last short trip been to?
